Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

On the 14th October 2018 I am running in the Royal Parks Half Marathon through some of London's most famous landmarks and renowned parks; Hyde Park, Green Park, St James's  and Kensington Gardens. My aim is to raise as much money as possible for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, which is a charity very close to my heart.

In December 2015 my grandma, Jan Barnett, sadly passed away from MND. My grandma was only 68 years of age.

MND is a progressive neurological condition that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. Messages gradually stop reaching the muscles which then leads to weakness and wasting. MND affects your ability to walk, talk, eat and breathe. Unfortunately the cause of MND is unknown and there is no known cure, although the more money that is raised for MND, the quicker a cure can be found resulting in less people having to suffer from this cruel and dreadful disease. MND kills half of those diagnosed within 14 months.

My grandma was a very special person who I adored immensely.  After seeing the pain and suffering she went through in her final months, I am determined to help, by raising awareness and most importantly money to go towards the research, care and general funding associated with this terrible disease by completing my first ever half marathon. I admired her strength and bravery during her battle with MND and this drives me on to challenge myself by running a half marathon in her memory. I know by doing so would make her very proud!

Please help me in my challenge by donating towards MNDA in a bid to achieve a world free from MND. I would really appreciate all the support you can give me!

Please remember to add Gift Aid if you are a UK tax payer.
